Vintage at Goodwood

Such an exciting event. The first vintage festival of its kind. I wasn't there.

Yep, as much as it pains me to say it, I was enjoying a very uncultured break in Kavos, Corfu at the time (also the reason I haven't been so hot on posting recently).

The three-day festival in Sussex, celebrating all things bygone, looked fabulous and I'm insanely jealous that I couldn't be there.

That said, there's been quite a bit of bad press about the festival. The mock vintage high street wasn't apparently all it was cracked up to be, a no-show by a pregnant Lily Allen, complaints of general disorganisation and "too many retail opportunities" according to the Guardian's review- sounds alright to me!

From the pictures I've seen, it looks like it was worth going just for a spot of people watching/ style inspiration.

The hair and makeup sported at the festival was stunning. I'd love to be able to do pin-up hair myself but it's definitely beyond my capabilities (my hair usually resembles a bird's nest), so I'd have loved to indulge in the hair and make-up tents on site.

I was also sorry to miss Pearl and Daisy Lowe's runway show. This showcased Pearl's new vintage-inspired collection in collaboration with Peacocks.

Now, I've always steered clear of Peacocks. Yes it's cheap, but I've never found it to be particularly stylish- neither the clothes nor the clientele (cheap highstreet clothes shops definitely attract plenty of undesirables). 

Despite my prejudice against Peacocks, there are however a few stand-out pieces that I really could see myself wearing.

 This ditsy floral print collared dress (modelled by none other than the gorgeous Daisy Lowe, naturally) is only £7! It is in the sale mind (was £30), but I'm not sure why as it's definitely one of the nicer pieces.

This floral playsuit is gorgeous too, and only £15 down from £30.

The 50s-style polka dot dress above is also a bargain at £12- this wouldn't have looked out of place at Goodwood either! I'm definitely going to have to reconsider my views on Peacocks...
