#JLTAW15: Autumn/Winter Trends at John Lewis

I recently attended a great fashion show at my local John Lewis at Manchester's Trafford Centre.

We were treated to a glass of fizz and took our seats ready for the show. We were introduced to trends and seasonal looks chosen by the staff, presented with models of different ages with a new spin on how to wear the looks for each group.







A distinct 1970s style was present in many of the trend sets. Some of my favourite pieces were faux fur gilets, tops and dresses in shades of Wine, knee high suede boots and glam clutch bags - perfect for a Christmas party!

The local team did a brilliant job with the show and it was lovely to see real John Lewis ladies modelling! They even sent us home with a jam-packed goody bag. Some of my favourite products I found inside are below. I love the beautiful candle from Kew, subtly fragranced with citrus notes and the Burts Bees Almond Milk hand cream tester - which is so amazing that I'll definitely be ordering full size!




Admittedly, John Lewis is sometimes more of a walk-through store for me when visiting the Trafford Centre - but no more! The huge range of brands the store carries is staggering. I was surprised to find that JL stock some of my favourites like Kurt Geiger, French Connection, Miss Selfridge and All Saints.

John Lewis have been firmly in the limelight recently after launching their eagerly anticipated Christmas ad this year. I wasn't sure about it at first, it didn't seem to make much sense, though after I learned that the retailer teamed up with Age UK on the ad to raise awareness of the loneliness that elderly people often feel at this time of year, it gave it much more impact.

Love it or hate it, it's definitely been a talking point this year!

Christmas Gift Guide

A bit late but if there's anyone out there still struggling for last minute present ideas, I've put together a little gift guide for ladies!

I mulled over the person I might have in mind when picking out gifts and thought it was actually best if I chose things I know I'd love to receive myself; who do I know better than me, right?

When it comes to gifts, I like to go down the route of quirky, handmade or unique- I generally like to receive and give gifts that are hard to find and that you don't see everywhere. I also think it's best to give gifts that someone wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves too; be that either because they're something a bit expensive or luxurious, or just something they've never come across before.

I've tried to come up with a bit of a mixed bag, so here's my guide below.

1// Chain  iPhone Case, £94, Moschino

Now, I don't have an iPhone, but you can bet your ass (or most valuable possessions) that if I did, I'd have a case like this! A bit pricey for a case you might say but a great present, no? I mean, other than a handbag, you carry your phone around and have it on display the most. I've also found a great cheap version of this on eBay, here.

2// Scrunchies, £3 each, Fashiion Friills

I'm a massive fan of the scrunchie- on the cool side of the 90s for me. I came across Fashiion Friills on Instagram (@FashiionFriills) and they have the best selection I've seen recently. These are handmade in so many different fabrics and prints and are just £3 each with free shipping! You can also buy several with a discount. I've not bought yet but thinking of getting a few for stocking fillers (and myself).

3// A3 New York illustration Print, £12, Ella Masters Etsy Shop

Ella is a blogger I've followed for some time so I've seen her amazing illustrations from the beginning and I'm just such a big fan really, I think she's really talented. This New York print is part of her 'city' collection which also includes a gorgeous Paris one- perfect for a friend who loves travelling! I don't know if her position has changed on this but I know she was talking about stopping selling her prints so you should get one fast! You can visit Ella's blog here.

4// 'Tea for Me' Pot/Cup, £49.95, Emma Bridgewater

Emma Bridgewater is a new brand I've come across and they do all manner of cute and quirky vintage-style printed homewares and personalised gifts. The British-made teapots are particularly lovely and come in loads of pretty handpainted designs. This sampler pot and cup style (how cool?) comes boxed so would make a perfect present for a chai-loving friend.

5&6// 'I Love you to the Moon and Back' Ring and 'The Mystic One' Midi Ring in Rose Gold, both £16 each, Dixi

I've long-admired Dixi's magical jewellery collection but it was only recently that I discovered that they are UK-based! Not sure how I didn't realise this but I will definitely be ordering soon now that I do. The rings they do are particularly pretty and are designed to be piled on and stacked together. The script ring comes in Silver, Gold or Rose Gold and the midi ring features an iridescent moonstone. Both great gifts!
