Kimono-no no no, when it's really yes yes yes yes yes

Hello!

I've been listening to too much Destiny's Child recently. No wait, I take that back; there's no such thing.

This is a quick outfit I snapped the other night.

I really need to invest in house with a private garden. I do loves me some alfresco blog photos but there's always someone around making it awkward.

Beanie: Ragged Priest
Cross necklace: charity shop/DIY
Grey crop tee: Primark
Kimono: Nereus London
Black skinny jeans: Primark
Snake print wedges: Office

Yeah so I actually LOVE this kimono! I've been looking for the perfect one for ages and was so excited to come across Nereus London who do loads of gorgeous oversized ones in really cool and unique prints- among other bits and pieces!

I discovered them on a new site called Runway Republic which is basically a boutique marketplace of women's fashion online. I'm always looking for new brands that do handmade and quirky one-off pieces so I was really chuffed to come across it; definitely recommend checking it out.

Pulled out my trusty Ragged Priest beanie for these snaps. It's been a bit too warm for them recently but the temperature's starting to drop now (this excites me- I'm so an Autumn/Winter girl).

I'm also pretty stoked that these jeans now fit like a dream. When I bought them they were pretty muffin top-inducing but I've been on a diet for around a month in the run up to my holiday (standard) and it's actually gone better than expected.

Standard blogger mirror image- couldn't resist, the print in the kimono looks so cool!

Have you come across any new clothing sites recently? Love to hear these in the comments.

Blue Jeans

Hello!

Last weekend I didn't have much to do so thought I'd pop into a few of the charity shops near me.

I was so pleased I did because I got an awesome new pair of jeans! After saying I'd given up on looking for the perfect pair of vintage high-waisted 'Mom' style jeans and consequently bought the American Apparel ones, I found these babies.

They were just £3.99 and still had the tags on! Despite being 'new', I think they're a good few years old from the style and cut. Being petite length they make good ankle bashers too.

Gold chain- charity shop
Crop top- Forever 21
Belt- charity shop
Shoes- Dr Martens

Sorry if you're bored of seeing the pewter Dr Martens brogues- absolutely rinsing them at the moment; love them!

I'm loving the 90s revival at the moment and am a die hard fan of high-waisted anything so these are just perfect.

Funny story about these jeans. They're pretty tight and first time I tried them on I bent straight down to do another turn up and pulled a muscle in my stomach. It was agony and having read up on it online I convinced myself that I'd torn an abdominal muscle so iced it and was waited on hand and foot all night. In the morning I felt fine! Boyfriend wasn't impressed haha.

The Midas Touch

Hello!

So, earlier this year I said that I wanted to offer a bit more on my blog and share any cool, independent brands that I might happen to come across that I think my readers might like.

Recently I've found Instagram to be really great for discovering new brands. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon one that really caught my eye for all the right reasons- House of Midas.

They're stuff is so up my street, they've practically crashed into my flat door! It's very 80s-inspired, some of the stuff reminds me a lot of vintage Versace jewellery, and all gold which is perfect for me- you aren't likely to ever see me wearing silver!

I got in touch with them to see if I could get a little bit more information on the brand and their inspirations. This is what they said;

We're a new brand, launched at the beginning of the year. Drawing inspiration from 80's & 90's iconic jewellery collections. We are constantly adding new pieces to the site and in the near future we are bringing out some branded beanies & Tshirts.

They were also kind enough to give me a special code for free UK delivery- just for my blog readers!

Just enter 'fox' at the checkout.

These pieces are next on my list.

Golden Touch Pendant, £12

Snaffle Beanie in Black, £17.50

The prices are really reasonable so I thought it'd be rude not to order a few bits! Here's what I bought initially.

Golden Touch Ring, £8

Midas Touch Bracelet, £10
Neptune Hoop Earring, £10

Here's an outfit I wore into town to do a bit of shopping last weekend when I wore all the pieces. The Ragged Priest beanie and Vans flatform trainers were both Christmas presents from Chris. Boy did good!

Beanie: The Ragged Priest
Earrings, Bracelet, Lion Head Ring: House of Midas
Necklace: Vintage
Lion Head Link Belt: Vintage
Leopard Velvet Burnout Dress: inlovewithfashion.com
Trainers: Vans

Tumbl-weed

Hello!

You may have noticed that I've changed my blog header- I was a little bored of the old one. One of my goals for 2013 is to get a bit more serious about blogging and to pay my little corner of the web more attention. I'm still not happy with it; ideally I'd love someone to draw me something amazing (as I'm a bit lacking in the art department!) but for now it's an improvement.

This is just a quick post to let you know that I've re-ignited my love with Tumblr and will be using the site to post images and anything else that's inspiring me.

You can visit my Tumblr site here (www.katieafox.tumblr.com)

I'd love some more Tumblr sites to follow so if you know any great ones or have one yourself, leave me a comment with a link so I can take a look-see!

Here's a little preview of images that are inspiring me right now:

Craving my old shaved side. Alice Dellal.

What's inspiring you right now? Spring, or is it too cold yet?!

From a Galaxy Far Away...

Or Yorkshire as it were!

Yep, I'm back home in the countryside for Christmas and thought I'd use the extra time off for a quick post.

Unfortunately, it's not Christmas-related (I got far too caught up in the day to do proper photos etc.) but in fact a little outfit I wore to brave the shops for a bit of last minute present shopping.

I've been dying to show you this awesome sweatshirt I bought recently from Veronica Fever- a cool independent brand selling cool customised clothing, all by one talented lady.

Looking moody thanks to absence of the boyfriend to take photos and make me smile- I hate tripods!
Sweatshirt- Veronica Fever
Faux Fur Coat- car boot sale
Beanie Hat- Honour Over Glory
Earrings- Topshop
Shorts- made by me from thrifted jeans
Boots- Dr Martens

I opted for the very blogger-esque tie dye one with a double CC drip galaxy motif, but she makes other very cool ones; the Jurassic Park one is next on my list!

I'm not normally one to do posts raving about a brand but I love coming across unique little places to buy things and knew I had to share this one!

Have you come across any amazing sellers/e-shops recently?

Love
