Rose Gold and Aqua Stones

A jewellery-based post for you. With Mother's Day coming up, it's the perfect opportunity to give (or receive!) something special.

I was lucky enough to get a closer look at a beautiful piece of jewellery from the 'Bronzallure' collection available at Chisholm Hunter, a UK jewellers with heritage dating back to 1857 -  they've got a store in Manchester too!

This rose gold plated necklace is made from a unique bronze alloy metal, plunged into 18ct rose gold and finished a aqua-coloured chalcedony semi precious stone charm.

I'm definitely not one for dainty jewellery so I absolutely love how chunky the rolo chain is. Despite its thickness, the necklace is surprisingly light due to the alloy base metal.

My favourite feature of this necklace is the unusual fastening. While a typical necklace closes at the back, the large lobster clasp on this pendant is designed to be worn at the front. I love how you can adjust it so that the stone hangs lower on your neckline.

I had the idea that the necklace would look great fastened tighter and put on backwards so that it was almost like a choker chain from the front, but with the lovely aqua stone hanging down the back. I've paired it with a low-back crop top below but I think it would look gorgeous with a backless or cut-out back evening dress.

The Bronzallure collection is new to Chisholm Hunter for Mother's Day. The range is inspired by classic Italian design and given a modern twist with stones like topaz, quartz and amethyst.

On another note, I can't get enough of MAC's Velvet Teddy lipstick which I'm wearing in the photos above. I know it's not exactly groundbreaking news anymore and I'm not usually one to buy into celebrity makeup trends but I actually seriously adore this shade and I never would have chosen it without its huge rep! Not wanting to splash out on a MAC lip liner as well, I've paired it with a Maybelline liner I picked up which I think works really well - it's called 'Velvet Beige' from the 'Color Sensational' (cringing at having to write the American spelling) range.

I also can't wait to blog the playsuit I'm wearing in the top photos - I recently bought it from Boohoo after spotting a presenter on MTV wearing the White version and tracked it down! I'm going to Amsterdam for a few days towards the end of next week and will hopefully get some outfit shots in to share once I come back.

Last Day's of Summer: Coral Tones

Hello!

Summer is swiftly leaving us behind (where did it go this year?) as Autumn approaches. I'm actually not sad about that. Autumn is my time.

Autumn/Winter is undoubtedly my favourite season in the fashion calendar. I have friends who are all about the bronzed legs, cut-off shorts and strappy tops of the summer but seriously, give me fluffy knits, rich velvet and chunky boots over that every time.

That said, I am partial to a bit if sunshine, even though my complexion might suggest otherwise.

A few weekends ago, the sun seemingly came out of no where so me and the boy made the most of the nice weather by going out for a Sunday lunch at a pub down the road.

Whenever the weather's not grim (and it usually is in Manchester) and I have a bit of spare time, I always try and get an outfit post shot outside.

Kimonos have been my saviour for the past few months; they're so easy to just throw on over a summery top to keep the chill out when the sun goes behind the clouds. This one's from a new site I discovered called DivaDames who do lots of trend-led clothing at really good prices.

I found myself wearing lots of coral in this outfit. From the coral tones in the print of my kimono to the gorgeous colour of this Religion box clutch from Psyche. It's the perfect size for a night out for a bit of makeup, some money and your phone. Psyche stock lots of accessories including Michael Kors bags and watches, Olia jewellery and Ted Baker purses. I was pleased to see Religion in the lineup which has been one of my favourite brand's since I was about 13.

This clutch isn't really a colour I would usually choose but I'm glad I did as it adds a nice pop of colour to my typically all-black outfits. It also perfectly matches my new Loreal Colour Riche Intense lipstick that I picked up on a three-for-two offer a few weeks ago. It says that it's for blondes but who I am to be told what does and doesn't suit me!

Mallorca: Day Two

Hello!

Here you have the second installment of my holiday diary.

On holiday, I always have to go and visit a local market; I think it's been instilled in me from every family holiday I've been on- my parents love a good market!

Inca is where Mallorca's big market is held every Thursday but since we flew out on Thursday morning and were leaving again the following Thursday, there wasn't really an opportunity to go.

As we were lucky enough to have the resort's main bus stop right outside our hotel, it was pretty easy to get to nearby towns so we looked into other markets and chose to hop on the bus to Son Servera which wasn't too far away.

Son Servera holds a pretty large market every Friday with stalls ranging from jewellery, pottery and handbags to amazing local food and produce.

I bought one of these dreamcatchers!

All the stalls selling meats and cheeses have loads of samples for visitors to try- you could get a pretty good free lunch out of your trip if you wanted to!

Love a good churro- Spanish doughnuts for those not in the know. We had some of these amazing massive chocolate filled ones. Unsurprising that I put on about half a stone on this holiday!

This was one of my favourite things in the resort. There was a little stretch of water running parallel to the sea with a bridge you could walk over- complete with it's own duck house! So cute that all the ducks loved it so much, they were always sitting on it!

Into the Night


This is what I wore in the eve...

Wearing my new fave Mac lippie (it's a creme sheen one called 'Lickable') and purposely did my holiday nails in a colour to match!

While we were in Son Servera, I managed to stumble across a Spanish charity shop. I didn't go hunting for one- honest!

It was pretty jumbled with just piles of stuff everywhere and no prices on anything. There were loads of folded jeans stacked up all over the place and eagle-eyed as I am, I spotted a pair of Levi 501s!

I decided that they probably wouldn't cost much so it didn't really matter too much if they didn't fit so grabbed them and took them to the cash desk and I was actually blown away- just €1! What's that, about 80p?

When i tried them on back at the apartment that evening and they fit like a glove, I couldn't resist wearing them out.
