Rain and BBQ , a surprising winner

Hello!

I hope everyone's had a fantastic long weekend for the Jubilee! I've got a little outfit post lined up but I had this one to do first- I'm so behind...

Okay so on Saturday I didn't do anything particularly regal; instead I took the opportunity to go shopping, which is quite rare really- I hate Saturday in town, it's so busy, much prefer to shop online!

It was quite a successful trip however, I bought these:

Leopard Printed Trousers, £29.99, Zara

And this:

Slubby Tee Dress, £25, Blue Rinse
Aaaaaand...

These!
White Block Heel Chelsea Boots, £60 (was £120), Deena & Ozzy @ Urban Outfitters

In the evening, me and the boyf went out for tea at Southern 11, Spinningfields, Manchester.

Chris (and me, admittedly) is a big fan of Man vs. Food and the food at Southern 11 is very much the same kind of stuff- think BBQ ribs, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork etc. etc.

As much of a low maintenance girl as I am, I was a bit apprehensive about going somewhere like this on a 'date' night BUT I was pleasantly surprised!

The restaurant is gorgeous and lit with beautiful twinkly fairylights and the food was also amazing!

This looks a bit of a mess as it's half-eaten- too excited to remember to take the initial picture! Chris had the tasting platter, I had ribs

I wore some of my new purchases.

Earrings: handmade from vintage buttons; Necklace: vintage fair: Leather Jacket, Topshop sale;  Dress: £25, Blue Rinse; Belt: £7, vintage shop; Bag: £3.99, (vintage) Jane Shilton via Charity Shop; Boots, £60, Deena & Ozzy @Urban Outfitters

I love this dress! I've nipped it in with a belt but plan to wear it loose with sandals in warmer weather. I absolutely adore Blue Rinse, it's one of my favourite vintage shops. They sell a great selection of new, and re-worked clothes of their own design. I used to go when I was younger and living near Leeds, it always seems more 'authentic' than a lot of vintage shops- if that even makes sense!

I'm also in love with the Deena & Ozzy boots (bought at Urban Outfitters). I've been looking for a pair of ankle boots with a chunky heel for a while now; the sort I can wear to work and out for drinks without being too dressed up or down in heels or flats. I'd kill for some Acne Pistol Boots and I wish I'd snapped up the Topshop Ambush lookalikes whilst they were on sale but it wasn't to be. I actually like that these are white as most of my clothes are black. In all honesty, I'm not really a fan of Urban Outfitters; as nice as the clothes are, I find it incredibly overpriced. I was passing through and these caught my eye and half price from £120 to £60, I couldn't leave them!

It was raining when we went out for tea, hence the slightly dull oufit- such a contrast to my weekend outfit last week!

Isn't it funny how drastically our wardrobes have to change in mere days in the UK?!

Sleighbells ring, are you listening?

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope everyone had an awesome day yesterday- I certainly did so thought I'd share it.

Me and the fella had xmas dins at our flat; my first time at Christmas dinner!

Shortly after taking this, I knocked a glass of the rose cava all over the bf, cream carpet and curtain- oops!

Deffo ousted the sprouts for my version!

It turned out really well and was delish- if I do say so myself!

After our dinner we headed up to my mum's in North Yorkshire for the afternoon/evening.

Failed to take ONE family photo. Mainly just ones of my dog!

I thought I'd share my pressies with you. I was totally spoilt.

Left to Right: Vintage Style by Sarah Kennedy (AMAZING), Making Vintage Accessories by Emma Brennan, Gorgeous by Gok Wan party nails bag, vintage-style fabric photoframe, floral tea tray, Olay moisturiser, LUSH bath bombs, The Good Girl on DVD (been looking for this all over), Cath Kidston coat hangers, jewelled trinket box, Baylis and Harding Vintage Rose hand soap, various biscuits and choccies, Cath Kidston mugs and milk jug, Wok, Kurt Geiger Woking boots.

My mum got me all the floral stuff- she knows me well!

And how thoughtful is this, she wrapped my wok up with noodles, sesame oil, soy sauce and Chinese five spice!

Oh and how cute is this fox ring my boyf got me?!

Please ignore the poor, poor attempt at Christmas nail art!
Hope you're all having a chilled out Boxing Day. I've been at work today but am home now, sipping on a brew in one of my new mugs, shopping online (buying a dupe of that Zara bag) and watching Come Dine With Me.

Love,

Foxy.

A classic mac: the ultimate solution to inbetween weather

The Great British weather. I'd like to think that its unpredictability is the reason for our complete unpreparedness for the changes it throws at us.

Always a talking point whether it be snowing, raining, hot or cold; and of course, we English are rarely satisfied with the result.

The Spring/Summer transition in particular is always a tricky one.

Pretty dresses, shorts and skirts hit the highstreet at the start of the season and, through wishful thinking I suppose, we start to panic about the weather and the need to update our wardrobes for the imminent instatement of the sunshine.

Of course this never happens and we are usually subjected to grey clouds and drizzle well into April.

However I have found the current weather tricky myself. It became apparent that I didn't have anything suitable in terms of 'outerwear' for the ever-changing weather.

My long, black, wool winter coat looked ridiculous as soon as the odd ray of sunshine peered through the clouds, and my various vintage denim jackets did little to keep the cold out when the overcast clouds decided to contradict what looked like a promising day a few hours beforehand.

I'd been toying with the idea of buying a nice classic mac for awhile and had my eye on this one (which you will soon learn that I did actually buy) from Zara for £49.99

The perfect combination of value for money and style. So what was stopping me? In short- the weather.

Every time I made up my mind to pop in and buy it, the weather perked up and I concluded that as it was getting hotter, I wouldn't have the chance to wear it.

The other day however, I bit the proverbial bullett and bought it. This came after an unexpected cold spell that I wasn't going to stand for any longer!

All this comes of course a few days before I open the paper and learn that this week is to be the hottest of the year so far.

The British weather- you just can't win!
