Rain and BBQ , a surprising winner

Hello!

I hope everyone's had a fantastic long weekend for the Jubilee! I've got a little outfit post lined up but I had this one to do first- I'm so behind...

Okay so on Saturday I didn't do anything particularly regal; instead I took the opportunity to go shopping, which is quite rare really- I hate Saturday in town, it's so busy, much prefer to shop online!

It was quite a successful trip however, I bought these:

Leopard Printed Trousers, £29.99, Zara

And this:

Slubby Tee Dress, £25, Blue Rinse
Aaaaaand...

These!
White Block Heel Chelsea Boots, £60 (was £120), Deena & Ozzy @ Urban Outfitters

In the evening, me and the boyf went out for tea at Southern 11, Spinningfields, Manchester.

Chris (and me, admittedly) is a big fan of Man vs. Food and the food at Southern 11 is very much the same kind of stuff- think BBQ ribs, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork etc. etc.

As much of a low maintenance girl as I am, I was a bit apprehensive about going somewhere like this on a 'date' night BUT I was pleasantly surprised!

The restaurant is gorgeous and lit with beautiful twinkly fairylights and the food was also amazing!

This looks a bit of a mess as it's half-eaten- too excited to remember to take the initial picture! Chris had the tasting platter, I had ribs

I wore some of my new purchases.

Earrings: handmade from vintage buttons; Necklace: vintage fair: Leather Jacket, Topshop sale;  Dress: £25, Blue Rinse; Belt: £7, vintage shop; Bag: £3.99, (vintage) Jane Shilton via Charity Shop; Boots, £60, Deena & Ozzy @Urban Outfitters

I love this dress! I've nipped it in with a belt but plan to wear it loose with sandals in warmer weather. I absolutely adore Blue Rinse, it's one of my favourite vintage shops. They sell a great selection of new, and re-worked clothes of their own design. I used to go when I was younger and living near Leeds, it always seems more 'authentic' than a lot of vintage shops- if that even makes sense!

I'm also in love with the Deena & Ozzy boots (bought at Urban Outfitters). I've been looking for a pair of ankle boots with a chunky heel for a while now; the sort I can wear to work and out for drinks without being too dressed up or down in heels or flats. I'd kill for some Acne Pistol Boots and I wish I'd snapped up the Topshop Ambush lookalikes whilst they were on sale but it wasn't to be. I actually like that these are white as most of my clothes are black. In all honesty, I'm not really a fan of Urban Outfitters; as nice as the clothes are, I find it incredibly overpriced. I was passing through and these caught my eye and half price from £120 to £60, I couldn't leave them!

It was raining when we went out for tea, hence the slightly dull oufit- such a contrast to my weekend outfit last week!

Isn't it funny how drastically our wardrobes have to change in mere days in the UK?!

Shiny Disco Balls

Or rather, pants!

Yes that's right, I'm talking about the American Apparel Disco Pants that are literally everywhere at the moment.

I bought mine a few weeks ago and haven't had chance to show them off yet.

This is what I wore on Saturday night for a few casual drinks out.

Cross earring, handmade by me; Levi's denim jacket, borrowed from boyfriend, Sheer top, sale ages ago,  John Zack; Leopard bralet, £7.99, New Look; Belt, 50p, charity shop; Bag, £3.99, vintage Jane Shilton via charity shop; Trousers, £70, American Apparel; Shoes, £120, Jeffrey Campbell Litas

Everything you've heard about these trousers is true. They are incredibly flattering (trust me, being of the larger variety of woman, shiny spandex pants don't instantly scream 'wear me'!) and are worth every penny of their £70 price tag. Even though I've spotted plenty of girls wearing them on a night out, I get compliments every time I wear mine.

I'm wearing them with my boyfriend's Levi jacket and the ever-trusty Jeffrey Campbells. I have my own Levi's jacket, the stars and stripes one I customised, and thought about getting myself a plain one; though, I realised that me and the fella would never wear ours at the same time so why not pinch his whenever it's up for grabs!

Hmmm, probably should have hung that jacket up somewhere rather than dumping it in the frame of the picture...
I've had this sheer black top for a year or too now and it's continually stayed put as one of my favourites. I love wearing black clothing and sometimes it can be a bit heavy, especially when you aren't quite confident enough to get more flesh out- sheer therefore is the way to go! The leopard print bralet underneath was a recent purchase from New Look.

I love the batwing style of the top and how untucking it at the back makes it a little more interesting...

What's your go-to piece at the moment?

Love,

Armchair shopping

Oh dear, can't believe my last post was about Christmas. Happy New Year!

I really haven't been up to a great deal. I didn't have much time off work at Christmas so I've spent my recent days off visiting relatives, leaving less time to myself to buy awesome things- or so you'd think.

I've actually managed to sneak in some bargains, due mainly to the wonder of online shopping.

First I thought i'd share, seriously, the best online shopping experience I've had in a long time courtesy of Love clothing.

Despite noticing that they ship with Yodel, which due to dealing with them everyday in my own job I can tell you are utter shite, I got gorgeous clothes for a good price, delivered quickly and wrapped beautifully (with a cheeky 20% code for next time!).

I wanted a dress for my graduation ceremony, which despite me 'graduating' in June, isn't until February.

I settled on this red number:

Not sure whether it'll look good under my grad robes or not but who cares, I LOVE it! (no pun intended).

For spending over £60, you got £15 off so I was tempted by another offer they had on for two items for £30 to make up the numbers.

I got this leopard print wrap dress:

And this pleated maxi skirt:

A good haul for £60 I say!

I was also really impressed by the fact they used blogger photos for some of their items. Made a welcome change to the usual purely product-focused shots.

It seems that the Brown Leopard Print Long Sleeve Wrap Dress has sold out and I can't find the blogger pic (sorry!)  however the gorgeous Charlene of Strutt was featured with the similar Snake Print dress
Genius!

Here's another little collection of recent buys:

At the top is an awesome 80s leather jacket I bought from COW in Manchester. I tried this jacket on shortly after moving here when I was penniless, so resigned it back to the rail. Having gone back after getting a job I wasn't surprised that it was gone. But fate was shining on me and upon popping in for a browse in the January sales, there it was- half price at £18! Result.

Then we have a pretty vintage lace collar I bought from eBay for around £5. Not sure if it's very me or if I'll wear it but we'll see.

Finally we have a Pritchard Vs. Dainton T shirt. Another eBay buy at £1.99.

Now, this will only mean anything to you if, like me, you are a massive Dirty Sanchez fan- which isn't particularly likely but i thought I'd share it regardless. I think I'm actually in love with Matt Pritchard and have been looking for one of these T shirts everywhere!

Here's a little video of the boys if you aren't familiar:

The real thing:
I know at circa £80 the Zara version doesn't break the bank but I'm not feeling so flush at the moment and the look-a-like bag is really good! Okay, it's not leather and it took an age to arrive (well, around 2 weeks) but for the price you can't complain.

Hopefully you might get some outfit posts out of me with all this lot.

Stay tuned!

"Increse the Peace"

Went out for a rare drink with the boyf last night- rare due to the fact we both work in bars and do silly hours!

I got to wear my new (sort of) leopard print faux fur coat which I was pleased about!

Vintage faux fur coat: £35, eBay; Cross earring: £6 (for 2), ASOS; Letter necklace: vintage;  Belt: 50p, charity shop; Playsuit: £25, Baylis & Knight; Vintage Jane Shilton bag, £3.99, charity shop; Boots: Jeffery Campbell
I've wanted a coat like this for years but have never been lucky enough to thrift one; I finally bit the bullet and bought this one from eBay for £35 last week.

If you see a coat like this in a charity shop, buy it. Honestly, there are last year's New Look versions (which were in the sale for £20 last Jan if I recall!) going for £40+ on eBay- madness! My vintage one is a little more original so I was quite happy to fork out £35 for it.

Showing off my new Litas!
Also wearing the playsuit I mentioned in my last post. I love plain, well-fitting clothes that you can just chuck a statement coat over- I might be treading into Bet Lynch territory otherwise!

The night ended fairly weirdly. We bumped into my old manager and his friend at the pub so had a few drinks with them. After being chucked out at close, we (and a few other curious drinkers) headed over to a house opposite which was covered in fairy lights and banners and ended up going inside.

We were greeted by a load of squatters who were strewn around the house playing the guitar and scrawling on the walls. We stayed far too long for my liking- Chris was busy having a debate with one of the squatters about their rights and the fact that we pay our taxes and the rent and are getting by just fine! (Reading this over my shoulder, he says, "I was being Louis Theroux!")

The post title, "Increse the Peace", by the way is something which was penned in the Ladies at the pub, followed by "Can't spell you fucking idiot".

It perhaps was a prophecy about the events to follow...
